Wallis and Futuna

Wallis and Futuna is a French overseas collectivity located in the South Pacific Ocean, consisting of three main volcanic islands approximately 16,000 kilometers from metropolitan France. The territory is known for its unique dual governance system that combines French administration with traditional Polynesian kingdoms, where local kings still hold cultural and ceremonial authority. With a population of around 11,000 people, it remains one of France's smallest and most remote territories, maintaining strong Polynesian cultural traditions while using the French franc as its currency.
