Pyrénées-Atlantiques

Pyrénées-Atlantiques is a department in southwestern France, formed in 1969 by merging the former departments of Basses-Pyrénées and part of Landes. It encompasses both the Basque Country in the west and the Béarn region in the east, stretching from the Atlantic coast to the Pyrenees mountains along the Spanish border. The department is known for its diverse landscapes, distinctive Basque and Béarnais cultures, seaside resorts like Biarritz, and its role as a gateway between France and Spain.
