Lake Tengiz

Kazakhstan's largest salt lake, Tengiz covers over 1,500 square kilometers and serves as a critical breeding ground for flamingos, pelicans, and numerous other waterbird species. This shallow, hypersaline lake in the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve transforms dramatically with seasonal water level changes, creating temporary islands and varied habitats.
