Summer Booty is a dance class series held every Tuesday evening at Halle Tropisme, exploring Afro and Afro-descendant dance forms placed in their historical and cultural context. Sessions include twerk, approached with reverence for its sacred origins, and focus on movement centred around the hips and pelvis.
The classes welcome all levels โ no prior dance experience is required. They are open exclusively to FINTA people (a chosen social mix excluding cisgender men), with the aim of creating a safe and supportive space for participants to move freely, reclaim their bodies, and discover their personal power.
Booty Therapy was created by Maรฏmouna Coulibaly over 30 years ago. In Montpellier, the classes are facilitated by Esther, a certified Booty Therapy instructor since 2018.
Classes take place in the carpentry workshop (menuiserie) or in Room A at Halle Tropisme. Participants with knee sensitivities are advised to bring soft knee pads. Pre-registration is recommended but not mandatory.
