Poitiers

Poitiers is a historic city in west-central France, serving as the capital of the Vienne department and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The city is renowned for its rich medieval heritage, including the Battle of Poitiers (732 CE) where Charles Martel defeated the Umayyad forces, and its well-preserved Romanesque architecture, particularly the Notre-Dame la Grande church. Today, Poitiers is also known as a university town and for the nearby Futuroscope theme park, which focuses on multimedia and futuristic technology.
