Altun Ha

This easily accessible Maya site features two main plazas surrounded by impressive pyramids, including the Temple of the Masonry Altars where the famous jade head of Kinich Ahau was discovered. Dating back to 200-900 AD, Altun Ha served as a major trading center and offers visitors well-preserved structures perfect for exploration and photography. The site provides an excellent introduction to Maya archaeology just 30 miles from Belize City.
