Haute-Loire

Haute-Loire is a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of south-central France, with Le Puy-en-Velay as its prefecture. The department is renowned for its distinctive volcanic landscape, including the famous Le Puy-en-Velay cathedral built on a volcanic plug, and serves as a major starting point for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. It's also known for its traditional lace-making industry and green lentils, which have protected designation of origin status.
